Orthoapnea

OrthoApnea began in 1992 to take its first steps in the search for the best solution against Sleep Apnea and Snoring. OrthoApnea develops, designs, manufactures and supplies mandibular advancement devices (MADs) for treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS). Its devices are the result of more than 25 years of scientific research, multidisciplinary cooperation, and use of digital flows plus 3D printing.

Currently, Orthoapnea is working in 45 countries with 130 international partners. As a result, more than 50.000 patients have been treated with OrthoApnea devices and conducted several effectiveness studies. This results in a remarkable improvement of the patients’ quality of live:

  • 94% Patients tolerate MAD without any problem
  • 91%patients use MAD every night
  • 90% Patients improve the AHI

Initially, OrthoApnea commercialized a medical device solution called OrthoApnea Classic, consisting of a device with two custom-made splints joined by a central adjustment system that enables a controlled and comfortable advancement of the mandible increasing muscular tone at the airway level. The Classic device allows an advancement range of 10mm and a laterality of 24mm.

Since 2015, we engaged with University of Malaga (UMA) in Spain, to develop in conjunction with the Mechanical Engineering Department the new generation of MADs. We have named this device NOA and it is entirely designed based on individual patient parameters, morphology and movement adapted to the mandibular kinematics of each patient. These features will create greater comfort; better adherence to the treatment and due to the customization of the device, this device will minimize any side effects on the temporomandibular jaw disorders (TMJ disorders). Other customized optional features are available when requesting the treatment by specialists: advancement sequence, laterality, mouth opening and frontal opening.

Both devices, the Classic and the NOA duly patented, have the CE marketing certification mark that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold. NOA is ready to follow the Classic’s steps in the international market.

NOA is already in countries in central Europe and the Nordics. OrthoApnea wants to go one step further…The Classic’s and the NOA’s good results motivates us to continue to move forward and we aim to be in the US market by the 2021.

In conclusion, we have worked hard to develop these devices and we are proud that OrthoApnea is the new leader in the dental sleep medicine.
